Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law.
Like it or not, accept it or not, you carry an atmosphere. Whatever is going on inside will eventually make its way out and follow you around like a fragrance, or something else!
It’s the reason that the writer of Proverbs exhorts us,
Proverbs 4:23 (NASB)
Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.
The secret to transforming atmospheres is first to accept Jesus into our hearts and invite Holy Spirit to reside in us. Then we let Jesus and Holy Spirit out, allowing people to bump into them before they even get to us. It follows then that the fruit of the Spirit are the aspects of God’s nature that people will experience when they encounter us.
Paul talks about there being “no law” against the fruit of the Spirit. Atmospheres cannot be legislated or mandated. They are to be cultivated, developed and released.
Matthew 11:29-30 (The Message)
"Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
This is how we use the fruit of the Spirit to change atmospheres! We cultivate the fruit of the Spirit and we allow Jesus to teach us His unforced rhythms of grace. When we do this, our atmospheres are no longer dictated by circumstance. They will only depend on the extent to which I am allowing Jesus and Holy Spirit OUT!
My atmosphere will bring abundant life wherever I go.
